Why the hot spots are used to track the movements of tectonic plates?
The hot spots are formed when the rock is heated up in mantle plumes.
because if you know the original location of hot spots or if you can not trace their movement over time due to hot spots around the moving plates. usually the hot spots in places of great tension and stopped through the snow and when tectonic movements pressure plates move, sometimes making new access points and sometimes the points of greatest heat more violent or less violent. if you know where the pressure points and moved where, you know where the plates move too.
